Ryan Gosling is phenomenal in this film. There, I said it. Was never a big fan but he won me over in his role as the idealistic newbie on a campaign trail who learns the hard way just how cut throat politics really is. The story itself is probing, gripping, and gut wrenching. It's based on politics but the theme can be applied to just about any corporate milieu. I have to warn you, there is no happy ending here. If anything, by the end you may need to fight the desire to curl up in a fetal position and suck on a pacifier. Talk about a rude awakening!
