Americhina?

Someone who has been in the garment industry for like 20 years told me that all the design jobs are being farmed out to overseas countries.  Her specific case was about an entire team of layout designers -- assuming for some publication -- were closed down due to its business moving overseas.  I don't think it's a far stretch to presume the company saved some major Benjamins.  To be honest, when is it not about the money?

I'm not sure how this will work out.  How could foreigners, at a glance, understand Americana, the foundation of art and commerce?  How would they capture the essence of American milieu?  Will my next job offer come from overseas?
